How The Auction Works

The auction will be held at Bloomsbury Auctions at 24 Maddox Street, London on Thursday 17th November and it starts at 3pm.

Bidding in person at Bloomsbury Auctions:

Clients wanting to bid in person are invited to attend the auction and will need to bring photo ID and a proof of address (such as a driving licence, utility bill or bank statement) in order to be registered to bid.

Bidding online:

To bid online go to and select Art on a Postcard Secret Auction from the auction calendar.

All the postcards in the auction can be viewed without registering.

If you would like to bid online, you will need to create an online bidding account and register for this auction. Photo ID and a proof of address (such as a driving licence, utility bill or bank statement) will be requested via email in order to approve your online bidding registration. Once the auction house has received your photo ID and proof of address you will receive a confirmation email that your registration has been approved.

Once registered you can bid live during the auction by logging in and watching the live video and audio feed that will be broadcast on The Auction Room.

Please note: the video will not be available until several minutes prior to the auction.

Leave a bid online before the auction:

You may prefer to leave a bid online in advance of the auction. The red Place Bid button will allow you to leave the ‘next bid’ £ amount which will then make your bid the highest bid for that lot.

The Enter Maximum Bid bar beneath the Place Bid option allows bidders to leave one maximum bid amount which will be bid up to on their behalf. Please note that this maximum amount will only be reached if there are other bidders also bidding for this lot at this amount.
