Giulia Berto is an Italian photographer. She holds a BSc in Biology and a Master Degree in Evolution of Animal and Human Behaviour and in June 2013 she graduated from the International Center of Photography in New York.
Her photographs have been published by DART: Design Arts Daily, ReverbNation, Lenscratch, L’Oeil de la Photographie, fLIP Magazine for London Independent Photography, NoThoughts Magazine and included in the book New York Edited – CITY SCAPES, published by Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin, DE. Her photographic works have been exhibited internationally at the New York Photo Festival (2011), Photoville (2013) and as part of the installation at the Portrait Salon (London, 2013). A selected portrait from her ongoing series Fragments has been shown at the 2015 Portrait Salon at The Embassy Tea Gallery in London and displayed at The Reminders Photography Stronghold Gallery in Tokyo in February 2016. In July 2016 she participated in the 2nd edition of The Photography Master Retreat, where she worked on her long-term project Fragments under the mentorship of Martine Fougeron, Elisabeth Biondi and Lyle Rexer.
She is one of ten winners of the first FotoFilmic monthly PULP Print Showcase Series (Bowen Island, BC). In October 2016 her work was part of the group shows Seeking Space:Making the Future in New York and Photomasters in London, UK. Fragments won the 2016 Shutter Hub Photomasters Award in London and featured in the third issue of Loupe Magazine as well as in the 9th Anniversary Issue of Fraction Magazine. In July 2017 her photographs Untitled and The Night Before - from her series Fragments, were on display at the Retina Scottish International Photography Festival in Edinburgh, UK, where she won the Public Vote Award as Best in Show for the annual Shutter Hub OPEN exhibition.
Her work also features in LensCulture, Shutter Hub and FotoFilmic’s PULP Collection. She lives between Dublin, Ireland, and New York City.
